Abstract

Surah Al-Waqiah is a surah that relegated in Mecca, consist of 96 verse. This surah is tell how the condition of human in inevitable. Surah Al-Waqiah has benefit that is surah Al-Waqiah can facilitate of fortunate for whoever routinely read it. In this study, Surah Al-Waqiah is researched based on SFL [Systemic Functional Linguistics] that concerns on Mood Sytem, Theme-Rheme and Transitivity Process. Systemic functional linguistics is the study of languages based on the functions and backgrounds of social. The point is that sfl sees language based on the text and the context of the language. This study aims [1] To find the Mood System on the translation of Surah Al-Waqi’ah by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, [2] To find the Them-Rheme on the translation of Surah Al-Waqi’ah by Abdullah Yusuf Ali and [3] To find the Transitivity Process on the translation of Surah Al-Waqi’ah by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. This study uses the qualitative descriptive methods which the aim to describe Mood System, Theme-Rheme and Transitivity Process used on Surah AlWaqiah by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. Therefore, the instrument is used to obtain data is observation. After the data are collected, the data are analyzed by Spardley technique. Spardley technique are used in this study are Domain and Taxonomy. The result of the study shows that there are eighty one [81]datathat consists of seventy nine as clauses and two as complement. There are several categories of Mood System, Theme-Rheme and Transitivity Process on the English Translation of Surah Al-Waqiah by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. Firstly, the Mood System found are declarative as the major are 56 data, Polar Interrogative are 12 data, WH Interrogative are 9 data, Imperative 2 data and Minor 2 data. Secondly, the Theme-Rheme found are seventy six [76] Topical, twenty three [23] Textual and ten [10] Interpersonal Theme. The last, the Transitivity Process as dominant found are Relational Process are 35 data, followed by Material Process are 24 data, Mental Process are 10 data, Behavioural Process are 8 data and Verbal Process are 2 data.Besides those, In the English Translation of Surah Al-Waqiah by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, there is also one datum that appeared on data 1 which there is no subject because certainly this surah is aimed to human. It is called as Omitting [Ø].
