Abstract

This research analyzed The Reader Responses to Happy Tree Friends Selected Animated Series. The purpose of this study is (1) To know the responses of readers to the Happy Tree Friends film, (2) To know the level of understanding reader to the Happy Tree Friends film. The scope of this study is reader response. This study concentrates on reader response of Happy Tree Friends film. The limitation of study is readers opinions should be exist in order that the writing of data does not go anywhere outside of the purpose. Reduction a research needs specific focus to make the research easy to be understood and easy for the research. The theory on reader response have 2 basic belief those are the role of the reader cannot be omitted from our understanding of literature and Readers do not passively consume the meaning presented to them by an objective literary text; rather, they actively make the meaning they find in literature. The ways of reader to construct meaning are the means by which the text controls the reader and the way in which the reader creates or recreates the text. Reader is necessary third party in the relationship that constitutes the literary work. The finding of this thesis toward the reader response that have been done from interview of responder those are (1) Andini Krisna Sari showing expression of surprised, disgusted, fear, and fearfully disgusted. (2) Lutfi Laila Sukmawanto showing expression of grinning, smiling, and laughter. (3) Lukman Ainul Yaqin showing expression of surprised, smile, and painful, and disgusted. Analysis of responses readers to the Happy Tree Friends film which is done with interviews only 2 people are interested and 1 person is not interested.
