Abstract

Language is arbitrary symbol system of sound that is used by member of a community to work together, communicate, and identify themselves. This research choose Tegalsono village,Tegalsiwalan sub district, Pobolinggo regency as a place of research because the society of Tegalsono use Madurese as daily communication. In other that, this research to know about how the Madurese children use a good Madurese speech level to there friends. There is something special that make researcher feel amazing at this village, because in this village many children are able to use Madurese language with a middle level or honoric level to their friends. The method of this study is descriptive-qualitative research to identify quality of study and analize the data. There are four steps in Ethnograpic : (a) Domain analysis (b) Taxonomy analysis (c) Componential analysis (d) Theme. The describing above are the data analysis by spradley (Spradley in sutrisno.2002). The researcher only take two tehniques which related to the problem of this study. There are two kind of speech level use by Madurese children in the area of MI Manbaul Ulum. They are kasar “rough” tengaan “middle”, are accur between 4th grade in non formal situation (play environment), tengaan (middle) 113 data that accur bettwen 4th grade and 5th grade to 6th grade. The researcher focuses outside of MI Manbaul Ulum. The middle level is more commonly use by student in Desa Tegalsono Probolinggo.
