Abstract

Surah Yasin is the 36th Surah in Al-Qur’an, it consists of 83 verses and includes Surah Mecca, although some scholars maintain that verse 12 is from the Madinan period.In this study, Surah Yasin is analyzed based on SFL (Systemic Functional Linguistics) that concerns on Mood Sytem and Transtivity Process. Systemic functional linguistics is the study of languages based on the functions. The purposes of this study are (1) To find the Mood System on the translation of Surah Yasin by Abdullah Yusuf Ali and (2) To find the Transtivity Process on the English Translation of Surah Yasin by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. To get the accuracy and correctness of data, this research uses the qualitative descriptive methods which the aim to describe Mood System and Transitivity Process are used on Surah Yasin by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. Therefore, the instrument is used to obtain data is observation. When the data are collected, then the data analyzed by Spardley technique uses Domain and Taxonomy Analysis. The result of this research found one hundred and forty two (142) data of Surah Yasin by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, but it becomes one hundred and thirty nine (139) on data because three (3) data appear does not include clause. Declarative are one hundred and nineteen (119) data, Wh Interrogative just one (1) datum, Polar Interrogative are six (6)data, Imperative are thirteen (13) data and Minor are three (3) data. Declarative as dominant category of Mood System on The English Translation of Surah Yasin by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, and Wh Interrogative is the one and only occurs on one (1) datum found on every data. While, Transitivity Process that found are Material Process there are fifty two (52) data, Mental Process are twenty two (22) data, Verbal Process are sixteen (16) data, Behavioural Process appears thirteen (13) on data include Verbal Behavioural and Mental Behavioural Process and the last category is Relational process found thirty six (36) data, both take from Attributive and Identifying Relational Process. Beside those, the result of data also found two (2) data that appear word of “Should” which it has a function as conjunction and same meaning with “If”. Besides that, in Surah Yasin there are three (3) data that have not a subject or the subject is omitted (Ø), because it is certainly the contain of Surah Yasin aimed to human.
