Abstract

Madurese language is studied focus, because this language is very unique. This research focused on the speech level in Sociolinguistic study, focuses on the using of speech levels Madurese language by Madurese children. The limitation of this study is the level of speech used by 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade Madurese children who live around in Islamic boarding school in Tegalmojo Tegalsiwalan, Probolinggo. The method of this study is descriptive-qualitative research to several a statements problem since this data are form of word. The subject of this study is Madurese children in 6th grade, 5th grade, and 4th grade in Islamic boarding school around at Tegalmojo Tegalsiwalan, Probolinggo. The steps of analyzed the data (1) hear the whole conversation (2) write the whole conversation in note book (3) agglomerate the word that include in kasar (rough), tengnga’an (middle), or alos (refined, honoric) (4) make certain about the impact of using Madurese speech level in kasar (rough), tengnga’an (middle), and alos (refined, honoric) by Madurese children (5) start to analyze. The result of this study is Madurese children in 6th grade, 5th grade, and 4th grade in Islamic boarding school around at Tegalmojo Tegalsiwalan, Probolinggo often use tengnga’an (middle) and alos (refined, honoric) with their friend in non formal situation (play environment). 192 data have been found in this research, kasar (rough) 35 data, tengnga’an (middle) 113 data, and alos (refined, honoric) 44 data. Positive impact of using tengnga’an (middle) and alos level by Madurese children, namely: (1) giving a positive effect on Madurese children on their behavior (2) teaching them to always respect between juniors and seniors (3) teaching more language vocabulary from an early age. The study may help people to solving the problem especially in speech level. Hopefully this study can add knowledge about speech level in Madurese language.
