Abstract

This research is a research about phenomenon of gay community's lifestyle in probolinggo city. The focus of research in this thesis is how the existence and lifestyle of the gay community in the city of Probolinggo. There are two problem formulas that the researcher asks: first how is the existence of gay community in Probolinggo city ? the second is how the lifestyle of the gay community in Probolinggo city ? In answering the problems above researchers using descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. And as an analysis, researchers used theoretical phenomenology. The results showed that the phenomenon of gay community lifestyle in the city of Probolinggo due to some factors such us : love trauma, unpleasant sexual experiences and external factors covering the environment, where the majority of them have a poor relationship with their families, their families are also mostly divorced so they lack the attention and place to communicate. From this relationship eventually leads them to communities where they have a common background and sexual needs. Not many of them can not be open about status to the general public. There are also those who try to show their existence to the community so that they can be perceived to exist. Their existence can be seen from the emergence of the gay community itself, and the distinctive languages they use to communicate with fellow members. But they still try to look like normal men, they often use clothes that can show male virility. They realize that what he chooses is a distorted act of norms and religions, but they try not to interfere with the lives of others in the hope that they are also disturbed by their existence.
