Abstract

In today's dynamic and complex organizational environment, leadership is no longer defined merely by authority, but by the ability to influence, inspire, and empower others. Strategic leadership combines rational decision-making with empathy, enabling leaders to align individual aspirations with organizational goals. This chapter discusses various dimensions of leadership based on Bateman and Konopaske’s framework, including the meaning of leadership, the expectations of followers, the importance of vision, sources of power, and behavioral approaches. It further elaborates on participative, situational, transformational, and charismatic leadership styles, along with the role of self-leadership and substitutes for leadership in certain contexts. Effective leaders are those who not only adapt to change but also act as catalysts for sustainable transformation. Through this synthesis of theory and practice, the chapter offers insights into how individuals at all organizational levels can cultivate impactful leadership in an era marked by collaboration and continuous change.
